California section 8 fruad?

So about week ago housing police came to my house and said that I had did housing section 8 fruad because when I was working I didn't report it he said that it was a felony and the amount was 8000 he said that he would have to take it to my case to the d.a and tht he would call me back the next day well I ended up calling him he said he was just wrapping up my case and he was gong to send my case to housing to calculate the payment when he was at my house he taped me and ask me would I be willing to do payments I said yes well anyway I ask him when I was talking to him on the phone was I going to court for this he said no then I ask was I going to jail he said no he said he would contact me this week coming up my? Is do u think he is lying to me about me not going to jail what do u think will happened I'm scared going crazy over here oh forgot to say when I was talking to him on the phone he said the amount was up to 32.0000 how in the hell did it get up to that much
