Limewire copied onto my blank cd with bad quality?

The songs played fine on Limewire, but when I transferred the songs to Windows Media Player to put on a blank cd, the music played back a little staticky. I thought it was just WMP doing that, but when I put the songs onto Itunes, it was still doing it. I tried several copies of the same song, with different songs, only to find that it did the same thing. Does anyone know why? Is there something wrong with windows media player or something?
