What card game am I thinking of?

I cannot remember the name or all the rules of this card game, but I know the basic idea. There are either one or two card laid face up. Each player gets a certain amount of cards. Say the face up card was a five, you could either put a four or a six down and then you'd go up or down in numerical order. The first person with no cards left wins. What game is this and how do you play?
