Why are the Redskins the best franchise in the NFL?

I saw a show about Robert Kraft on MSNBC last night and they were saying that the Patriots are the 3rd most valuable franchise in the NFL after the Cowboys and Redskins. I understand the Cowboys but not the Redskins.
