What was life for people in Britain between 1550 and 1650 like?

This was a period of great internal and external threat. There were religious purges and conflicts during Tudor times, and civil war based on politics and religion under the Stuarts. In addition, foreign countries (notably Spain) were planning and attempting invasion.
